Shoppers seek out the best tax free deals

JACKSON, Tenn.—Shoppers take advantage of the sales tax holiday in the Hub City.

Many shoppers took to stores today to pick up needed items in time for the start of the new school year.

The tax free weekend allows for no sales tax on purchases of $100 or less on certain school supplies, clothing, and some electronics. Computer and tablet purchases under $1500 hundred were also tax free.

At Target, shoppers filled the isles to grab needed pencils, paper, backpacks and other supplies.

Shoppers could also take advantage of various store sales on items to get the lowest price on items they need.

“We’ve been to, well I’ve been to three stores and online, but online was going to take too long, so we had to come rush last minute,” said Leslie Jones, Tax Free Weekend Shopper.

The Tennessee Sales Tax holiday ends tonight at 11:59.
