Kentucky Derby-themed party raises money for heart programs in West Tennessee

JACKSON, Tenn. — A Kentucky Derby-themed night out is helping save lives in West Tennessee.

Friends of Heart hosted a Derby party this evening at Madison Downs in Jackson. The event raises money for lifesaving heart programs, including free EKG screenings, AED distribution, and cardiac awareness across communities.

Organizers call it a high-energy way for local businesses and families to make an impact, bringing people together for a night where giving meets the finish line.

“The thing that’s so special and important about Friends of Heart is that all the money we raise comes from local donors and we keep it all local. So it’s local dollars doing local work here for the people of West Tennessee,” said Sarah Smith, managing director for Friends of Heart.

The event included live music, food, mint juleps, and hats.

The 152nd Kentucky Derby is on Saturday.
