Jackson Housing Authority brings Family Expo to east Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson Housing Authority held their family expo at the East Pointe Apartments.
This was an opportunity for residents to learn more information about resources available.
“We had the Jackson Police Department here, the fire department here, we had banks here, FEC here. We had all different kind of different social agencies here. Employers here that would help us promote upper mobility for some of our residents,” said Mark Reid, executive director of Jackson Housing Authority.
Team members of Covington Children Family Services also offered assistance.
“We provide housing utility assistances, mortgage assistance with people living with HIV and aids,” said Kenneth Caldwell, HOPWA director with Covington Children Family Services.
Along with that, they offer free testing.
“We have rapid HIV and rap-c tests and, like Mr. Caldwell said, you get the results back in 20 minutes. Everything is confidential we service 19 counties with Madison County being one of those,” said Missy Foster, patient navigator with Covington Children Family Services.
This was not the last of the Jackson Housing Authority’s summer events.
“Family Expo, it’s gonna be at 125 Preston Street, Jackson Housing Authority, it will be at our office from three to five at our parking lot at the Jackson Housing Authority. We have some of the same resources here. We just asking all of our residents to come out. We’re gonna have drawings, fun, food and a lot of opportunities for people to connect,” said Reid.
Their next summer event will be on Monday, August 8, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at their office.
