Valarie Spragins Announces Retirement and New Ownership of VSS Dance 

South Jackson, TN VSS Dance, a cornerstone of the dance community in West Tennessee, announces the retirement of its visionary Founding Artistic Director and owner, Valarie Spragins, effective August 12, 2024. Ms. Spragins established VSS Dance in 1986 with just eight students and has since dedicated over 38 years to nurturing and growing the organization into a thriving center for dance education. 

Under Valarie’s leadership, VSS Dance has flourished, culminating in the establishment of its state-of-the-art facility in South Jackson. This space has become a beacon for aspiring dancers across west Tennessee, offering a comprehensive environment to explore and master the art of dance. 

“It is my heart’s wish that VSS Dance should continue to share and engage more young students in the beautiful art form of dance,” said Valarie Spragins. Her legacy of dedication and passion will continue to inspire generations of dancers. 

Effective August 12, 2024, Grayson Hart, the current office manager and musical theater instructor, will not only assume the role of Artistic Director but also take over as the new owner of VSS Dance. Grayson’s appointment and ownership mark a new chapter for VSS Dance, as he brings a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to the studio’s mission. 

“I am so honored and thrilled to carry on the legacy of VSS Dance and Valarie Spragins into the next generations and those to come,” said Grayson Hart.

Grayson Hart has been a dedicated member of the VSS Dance family, serving as the office manager and musical theater instructor. With a background in performing arts, Grayson brings a unique blend of creativity, administrative acumen, and a deep passion for the stage to his new role as Artistic Director and owner. He has worked closely with students of all ages, fostering a love for the performing arts and ensuring that VSS Dance remains a welcoming and inclusive environment. As he steps into this new chapter, Grayson is committed to continuing the legacy of excellence that has been the hallmark of VSS Dance under Valarie Spragins’ leadership.
