Authorities Investigating Potential Sex Crime Against Child
TIPTONVILLE, Tenn. – A young girl, only six-years-old, said she was sexually violated by a neighboring child. Her parents are in disbelief. “It’s really hurtful to see a six-year-old get violated by this, who’s scared to go outside, who’s scared to ride her bike,” the girl’s father said . “Before all this happened, she was a happy-go-lucky person, and I just hate to see this happen to her.” The Lake County Sheriff’s Department and the Department of Children’s Services are investigating the case. Family members said an eight-year-old boy sexually assaulted their daughter, who was taken to a hospital in Jackson to be examined after the incident. “I did ask the woman who performed it what the results were,” said the girl’s father. “And she said she wasn’t fully penetrated to the point of rape, but she was sexually assaulted.” The owners of the property where the incident allegedly were shocked, and they reacted quickly. “I told that guy if you want to call the cops, go with it,” said the property owner, who did not want to be named. “(I said) we support you, but we don’t support the boy. We just kicked them out.” Forgiveness may be in the future. But for the time being, the family is left looking for answers. “I can’t really blame the eight-year-old,” said the girl’s father. “I have to blame the parents who was watching him and who’s custody he’s in. I’d like to see him get some help. And later on down the road, maybe he can come and apologize for what he’s done to my little girl.” The investigation in this case is still ongoing.
