Arrive Alive Tour visits Lane College to teach about dangers of impaired driving

JACKSON, Tenn. — Good decisions prevent bad collisions. That’s why this driving awareness event is so important.

The Arrive Alive Tour was held at Lane College Wednesday. It’s a state-of-the-art simulator that allows participants to experience the dangers of driving under the influence.

The tour, sponsored by the Tennessee Highway Safety Office, aims to educate students and the community about fostering lifelong safe driving habits.

Driver distraction accounts for more than 11% of all car accidents in the state.

Each participant had the opportunity to drive under the influence of alcohol or marijuana. There was also an option to drive intoxicated with both alcohol and drugs.

“I felt like I was out of my body. I couldn’t control myself, I couldn’t control the car. I just kept swerving. Don’t do it. Get somebody else to drive for you. If you can’t drive, don’t drive drunk,” said Tredarious Copleand, student at Lane College.

This event was held outside the upper level of the Kirkendoll building at Lane College.
