West Tennessee Healthcare holds meeting to discuss upcoming changes

JACKSON, Tenn. — Some exciting developments are taking place in local healthcare.

The board of trustees of West Tennessee Healthcare met Tuesday evening.

Their electronic medical records comes from a product called Epic and they are getting ready to convert it to all of their hospitals.

Officials say it allows better communication between providers, but it also allows better communication between their patients and their doctors.

They are going live with it on October 4.

Amy Garner, chief compliance and communications officer at West Tennessee Healthcare, says they’re also integrating Henry County Medical Center into their operations.

“That hospital has been struggling financially and we are going to come together and support them and bring them into our West Tennessee Healthcare family,” said Garner.

Garner says that will happen October 1 pending regulatory approval.
