First responders honored at ‘Three Stars of Tennessee Award’ ceremony
JACKSON, Tenn. — Tuesday morning at Hermitage Hills Baptist Church, Governor Bill Lee and Senator Becky Duncan Massey joined the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security to present the “Three Stars of Tennessee award.”
Speakers also included Department of Safety and Homeland Security Commissioner Jeff Long and Tennessee Office of Homeland Security Deputy Commissioner Greg Mays.
“Today’s ceremony recognizes law enforcement officers, firefighters and first responders who have died or suffered a career ending injury in the line of duty,” said Mays.
The honorees at the ceremony are as follows:
- Knoxville Fire Department Captain Chris Patterson
- Blount County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Gregory Allen McCowan
- Knox County Sheriff’s Office Officer Tucker Blakely
- Morristown Hamblen Emergency Medical Service Paramedic Todd E Giles
- Macon County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant William Cherry
- Metropolitan Nashville Police Department Detective Donovan Coble
- Memphis Police Department Officer Joseph Russell “Rusty” McKinney
- Memphis Police Department Officer Jewell L. Suggs
Special guests included other elected officials and public safety leaders and, most importantly, the family members of those honored.
