Rivertime Players to debut interactive play ‘Weirder Shtuff’ in Parsons

PARSONS, Tenn. — A traditional play makes its way to West Tennessee with a funny spinoff for family to enjoy.

The Rivertime Players will debut ‘Weirder Shtuff,’ a play based on a popular TV show on one streaming service. This will be performed in the style of a ‘‘Toby Show’ which were popular in the 19th and early 20th century.

These shows set up tents and perform for audiences. This will have Toby break the fourth wall and interact with audience.

Tickets will be sold the day of and performances are Friday, September 27, and Saturday, September 28.

On October 4, 5, 11 and 12 all shows will begin at 7:30 p.m.

“It’s always a joy to prepare for a Toby show. They’re always very funny. This year is really funny I believe. It’s a lot of work though–setting up a tent, putting a stage up building a set and everything underneath there. It’s a joy to do it every time and you hate to it come down at the end of the run,” said Mark Tubbs, Rivertime Players.

‘Weirder Shtuff’ will be performed at 535 Tennessee Avenue South in Parsons.
