Brooks Shaw talks honoring father’s legacy through annual Prayer Walk
UPDATE (9/26/24): Due to weather conditions, the Prayer Walk has been canceled.
JACKSON, Tenn. — One local owner is following in the footsteps of his father by initiating prayer.
Four years ago, Clark Shaw organized a prayer walk. After he passed, his son had a plan to continue that legacy.
“Hope that people will just feel the love of Jesus and a little bit of the whole community reaching out and trying to touch this one area,” said Brooks Shaw, Old Country Store President.
The 4th Annual Clark Shaw Memorial Prayer Walk will happen Saturday, September 28.
“So we’re gonna gather at the parking lot at Home Outlets parking lot, the old K-Mart parking lot,” Shaw said. “We’ll gather there at 8:30 on Saturday morning. We’ll have some sausage and biscuits and coffee for the people who are walking.”
By 9 in the morning, they will proceed down Old Hickory and break off into side streets or come down the main road.
Shaw encourages residents from the neighborhood to join them.
“And at 11 o’clock, we’ll be at Hartland Apartments complex with the city police and fire departments doing a cookout for that neighborhood,” Shaw added.
He said they’re always looking for ways to connect with the community, and being that his father instilled this in him, he couldn’t let it go.
“Knowing that he had done this and it meant a lot to him… He’s not here anymore, so it just really resonated with me that this was a way to keep his memory alive,” said Shaw.
He said the prayer is not just for those who live in the area, but those who own the buildings, their kids, the schools they attend and so much more.
