Local first responders to assist in rescue and clean-up efforts
JACKSON, Tenn.—In a top story, local fire and emergency response teams are en route to help fellow Tennesseans who have been affected by the recent storms.
The Madison County Fire Department and Madison County Health Department Emergency Response teams are being deployed to East Tennessee, in Unicoi County
They are taking the command bus, two morgue trailers and a mobile hospital to assist other agencies with rescues and clean up.
“They’re still in response, search and rescue mode. We are going up to support that search and rescue mode. So at this point, we’ve been given a window of a 7-day deployment. That could be lees or it could be extended depending on just how bad it is and how quick we can get things done. So we’re going up to support them in this disaster mode,” said Eric Turner, Madison Co. Fire Chief.
The teams are told they will be working in multiple counties assisting in the medical needs of those affected.
