MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. – Deputies have identified the driver of Sunday’s fatal wreck on Christmasville Road. They say John Lange, 29, was driving drunk and slammed through a home, ejecting him from his truck in the process. Justin Williams was in the home when Lange slammed into it. He said he was thankful he and his 7-year-old next door neighbor Jordan Canales were unharmed. Canales was outside playing near the tree that Lange hit. “That’s my lucky tree because it saved my life,” Canales said. Canales said he was just feet from the tree around 6:00 p.m., Sunday when Lange’s truck slammed into it ejecting him. Lange later died from his injuries. Witnesses said the truck was traveling in excess of 100 mph when it sliced through Williams’ home. Cathy Bailey was outside and saw the wreck. “I heard some tires squealing,” Bailey said. “I saw the truck go airborne and go right into the house.” Justin Williams room was completely detached from the rest of the house after the wreck. He was inside but in a different room when Lange’s truck drove in and out of his home. He and his mother have been forced to relocate. “The blow the car made moved the house, so the foundation might be off so they might total the entire house,” Williams said. While neighbors are still in shock they are just grateful no one else was hurt. Canales said his guardian angel is who saved his life. “‘Cause of God he was looking at me and he saved my life,” Canales said. Williams said he and his family are staying with other family for now. Deputies said Lange was not wearing his seat belt and they are still investigating the crash.
