Jackson Symphony Music Academy brings music to Civic Center
JACKSON, Tenn. — Over 700 people were at the Carl Perkins Civic Center Sunday to enjoy a diverse group of young artists.
“Come to the Music,” a performance by the Jackson Symphony Music Academy, showcased the talent of over 200 student musicians.
Performances ranged from the youth orchestra, children’s choir and youth string ensembles.
“We are so thrilled that they get to showcase their talents and their hard work from this semester,” said Jackson Symphony Marketing Director Tracey King.
Additionally, students from the Jackson Symphony Music Academy Regional Music Centers, which spans to eight counties across West Tennessee, also joined in side by side orchestral and vocal performances.
“If they practice and rehearse out in one of our regional music centers, they are performing here tonight if they are ready for that first performance. Some of them are brand new and haven’t had an opportunity to get ready for the performance, and so we will have them on the stage in the Spring,” King said. “The mission of the Jackson Symphony Music Academy is to allow young artists to have a stage to perform. It’s an opportunity both here in Madison County and across West Tennessee as the regional music centers expand to give them opportunities to learn musicianship, performance and teamwork.”
The Symphony also invites you to “Christmas Around the World” on December 7 at the Civic Center. The family matinee will begin at 11 in the morning, and the Holiday Pops concert will be at 7:30 in the evening.
