UPDATE (11/21/24): 2 teens arrested for deadly shooting of juveniles in Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — We have a follow up regarding a story we brought to you Monday night on a heavy police presence in east Jackson.

Around 8:30 Monday evening, we received several calls of a large police presence and ambulances near Faris Street. Callers said they also heard gunshots in the area.

When our crew arrived, the Jackson Police Department, Fire Department, and EMS were on the scene.

There was also crime tape up blocking off a portion of the road. Officers appeared to be searching the area of a nearby home.

We contacted JPD and later received a press release Tuesday morning before 10 a.m. The press release states:

November 18th at approximately 8:20pm, officers were dispatched to preston street following a shotspotter alert. Upon arrival, they determined that the gunshots had originated from the nearby 200 block of Faris Street. At that location, officers found two male juvenile victims suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to a local hospital by emergency medical personnel and later transferred to a hospital in Memphis. One victim remains in stable condition, while the other juvenile tragically succumbed to his injuries this morning.

The release goes on to say that this is an ongoing investigation, and if anyone has additional information that could assist, contact Jackson Police at (731) 425-8400.
