City of Camden Water Dept. issues boil water advisory
PRESS RELEASE FROM CITY OF CAMDEN WATER DEPARTMENT:
UPDATE (11/29/24): Camden Water lifts boil advisory
CAMDEN, Tenn. — The City of Camden Water System is issuing a boil water advisory to all City of Camden Water Department customers.
The critical main transmission water line that feeds the Camden Water Treatment Plant and the entire Camden Water System was severely damaged due to a traffic accident on Highway 70 East at approximately 5:00 PM, on November 25, 2024.

Water system crews have been on the scene to assess the damages to the water main. Approximately 100 feet of water main has be to replaced in order to restore service to our customers. As a result of this prolonged water service outage, we are issuing a precautionary boil water advisory until water service has been restored and water tank levels reach adequate capacities to maintain water system pressures.
What does this mean? What should I do?
- DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for three (3) minutes, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.
What is being done?
Camden Water Department utility crews have been dispatched and will begin repairs as soon as the Tennessee Highway Patrol clears the accident scene and is safe for our personnel to proceed. Once the repairs have been completed and system pressure is restored, bacteriological tests will be conducted throughout the system. We will advise when the advisory is lifted.
