Search underway for suspect who fled on foot from law enforcement
RELEASE FROM THE ADAMSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT:
UPDATE: [1/13/2025 – 4:30 p.m.] Mr. Shields is still at large at this time and has not been located despite and exhaustive search on both side of the Hardin/McNairy county line. An accomplice is in custody at this time. Information gathered by authorities suggests Mr. Shields may have traveled on foot Eastbound from Palmer Street and traveled into Hardin County. Mr. Shields has numerous active warrants for his arrest from numerous different jurisdictions in Western Tennessee. If you have any information on his whereabouts, please contact central dispatch at 731-645-7906.
RELEASE FROM THE ADAMSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT [1/23/25 – 1:09 p.m.]:
The Adamsville Police Department, McNairy County Sheriffs Office, and Hardin County Sheriff Department are currently in the area of Palmer Street and Highway 64 attempting to locate a male subject who has fled law enforcement on foot.

Male subject is believed to be Matthew Shields based on information obtained on the scene.
Mr. Shields has numerous active warrants in multiple jurisdictions.
Subject was last seen wearing a dark colored large/heavy jacket and possibly traveling East bound on foot toward Hardin County.
If anyone in the area sees the subject on foot, please do not approach and notify law enforcement immediately.
