Incident between bus passengers leaves one injured in Jackson
JACKSON, Tenn.—An incident this morning between two Greyhound bus passengers prompts police and emergency personnel in Jackson.
Just after 10 this morning, a tipster alerted us to police, emergency crews, and a medevac helicopter being present on the campus of Jackson State Community College. The caller also indicated they believed a shooting occurred following an altercation between two Greyhound bus passengers at the nearby bus stop.
Our crews arrived on scene and witnessed a Greyhound bus stopped at the Mega Mart station located at 1400 U.S. Highway 70 East. Passengers had evacuated the bus, which had a shattered window. We spoke to one of the passengers who witnessed the event.
“Once they went to tussling he got his pistol out. Chased him behind the bus. They run through there and he shot him but in the mix of all of that, he shot at the bus four times. Yeah, he grazed at the bus like four times,” said Justin Price, Passenger/witness.

Shooting Incident at Mega Mart in Jackson – January 19, 2025
Jackson, TN – Officers from the Jackson Police Department responded to a report of a shooting at approximately 9:18 am on January 19, 2025, at the Mega Mart located at 1400 Hwy 70.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the incident stemmed from a verbal altercation between two passengers aboard a Greyhound bus arriving in Jackson. Both individuals are reportedly from out of state and were traveling through the area.
During the incident, the victim sustained a non-life threatening injury and has since been treated. The suspect was taken into custody and has been charged with aggravated assault.
