JACKSON, Tenn.- A Jackson hospital has received recognition for excellence in hospital safety. Jackson-Madison County General Hospital has been recognized with the Healthgrades 2013 Patient Safety Excelence Award. The distinction places the hospital within the top 10 percent of all hospitals for its excellent performance in safeguarding patients from serious, potentially preventable complications during hospital stays. Hospital leaders said they are grateful for the honor. “It’s a good recognition of the work of our employees. It’s not any individual award it is an award to the organization and it takes everyone in the organization focusing on patient safety to reach this kind of an award,” said Dr. David Roberts, chief medical officer at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. The hospital was one of only five in the state and 379 nationwide to receive this safety excellence award.
