HARDEMAN COUNTY, Tenn.– A community pauses to honor the life and work of a local first responder.

A ‘Sea of Lights’ event was held in Bolivar Thursday evening in honor and memory of Rhonda Avent.
According to a post from Shakelford Funeral Directors, she died Tuesday at the age of 58 at her home.

Avent served with the Hardeman County Rescue Squad for 21 years.
Agencies from counties across West Tennessee attended to show their support.

Local, county and state agencies began the procession at the Hardeman County Fairgrounds and proceeded east, through Bolivar, passing Avent’s home and ending at Tate Road, just outside of town.
