15-year-old dies following weekend shooting incident in east Jackson

JACKSON, Tenn. — We received multiple tips Saturday afternoon about a heavy police presence at the area of North Royal and Hardee Street.

The Jackson Police Department responded to this shooting incident at the 100 block of Hardee Street. When our crews arrived on scene, an ambulance could be seen leaving the home.

According to JPD’s release, upon arrival, officers found a 15-year-old girl inside the residence suffering from a gun shot wound.

Though we have limited details, one officer we spoke with tells us they were assessing the scene for over three hours. Investigators also conducted interviews with witnesses that were present at the time of the incident.

Authorities also tell us this was an isolated matter. The investigation is ongoing.
