Corinth man dies in Prentiss County jail

BOONEVILLE, Miss. (AP) – Authorities say preliminary autopsy results show a Corinth man died of natural causes while incarcerated in the Prentiss County Jail. County Coroner Greg Sparks tells the Daily Corinthian (http://bit.ly/12OYJOs ) that the autopsy shows no evidence of any internal or external injury. Sparks says the death appears to be attributable to natural causes. Sparks say a full autopsy report including toxicology results could take several months to complete. Sheriff Randy says 28-year-old Marterious Jerrod Swinney was talking on the telephone in the jail around 11:15 a.m. Saturday when he collapsed. Swinney was transported by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Booneville where he was pronounced dead. Tolar says Swinney had been booked into the jail around 10 a.m. Friday and was being held for the First District Drug Court.
