Police: Man Slashes Woman with Sword, Runs Away

JACKSON, TN: A pair with a sword confronted three women who were sitting in a car Sunday night, according to police. Around six p.m. on Sunday, an angry woman and a 240-pound man approached the car on Burkett Street while wielding a sword. Police say the man used the sword to bust out the back window. One woman suffered a cut to her arm and was sent to the hospital. Police say all three women feared for their lives. WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News spoke with neighbors near the area. “It’s just a sad story once again and sometimes people just have sick minds,” Benjamin Woods who lives on Burkett Street said. After using the sword, police say the man left Burkett street in a Black Monte Carlo with a woman. He is wanted for aggravated assault and vandalism. The woman he left with is wanted for aggravated domestic assault. “Generally the police I felt like they have done a good job over here cleaning the area up,” Lloyd Springfield who lives near Burkett Street said. “It’s just a shock to me.” Police say the man with the sword knew the people in the car. “As far as neighborhood safety, I never really seen a threat like this coming but you never know it’s crazy times,” Springfield said.
