2 killed when truck crashes into E. Tenn. home

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Authorities say two people in a truck have died after it crashed into a home in Knox County.

Knoxville Fire Department Capt. D. J. Corcoran told The Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1fYYx2e) that the crash early Wednesday apparently ruptured the gas tank on the truck, setting both it and the home ablaze.

Homeowner Dennis Hoffman said the truck was embedded almost to its cab in the front bedroom, which was empty. He said the impact awakened him and his wife. Neither was injured.

Hoffman said the house sits in a curve on the roadway and other wrecks have happened in their yard, but this was the first one to hit their home.

Officials haven’t released the names of those who died.
