JMCSS Board holds special-called budget, capital meeting

JACKSON, Tenn. — A special capital and budget meeting was held for the Jackson-Madison County School System Wednesday afternoon.

This meeting took place to ensure soft costs stay on track as the new Pope School location is near completion. The school will house pre-k through 8th grade. This addition will help contribute to the north part of Jackson.

The board made suggestions for the expansion Jackson Central Merry High School, and potential ideas for early college high for the success of students.

“The main focus is academics, growth and achievement for our students. Facilities are an important contributor to that, whether we have classrooms that are overcrowded, unwelcoming, old or outdated or whether we have facilities that accommodate all of our students and the needs of our teachers and staff,” said Glen Gaugh, chairman for the capital committee and board member for district 2.

Members of the board are confident their initiatives with Jackson-Madison County School Systems will make a difference for the effective development and advancement of all students.
