Journalists around the country celebrate the Freedom of Information Act during this time. The act is an extremely important federal law which allows the public to see how our government works.

Federal agencies must disclose any information requested under the Freedom of Information Act unless categorized under one of nine exemptions.

“Let your representatives work, whether it’s your city council, your state, or your federal representatives, know that you care about open records and the Freedom of Information Act and you think we need to have the right to see how our government’s working,” said Lloyd Chapman, head of the American Business League.

For more than 30 years, Lloyd Chapman has worked to protect the interests of our nation’s 27 million small businesses.

He has done so by challenging the federal government to open up to the American public.
