Annual Pumpkin Field Day at UT

WEST JACKSON, Tenn. — The pumpkins are out of the fields and ready for viewing at a west Jackson educational and research center. The UT Institute of Agriculture’s annual field day is designed to help local growers improve their pumpkin production practices. Attendees learned about pumpkin variety performance, pest control and pumpkin marketing strategies. The field day concluded with display design tips from the creator of the research center’s pumpkin harvest display featuring more than 5,000 pumpkins, gourds and winter squash. “I think we really do a good job of tailoring the educational programming to what has happened in that particular year so I think people come back year after year because they do learn something different every year,” Annette Wszelaki with the UT Ag Extension said. The display will be open for viewing at the UT Center until December 1.
