Morristown designated a ‘connected community’
MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (AP) – An East Tennessee community is being recognized for its connections.
The Citizen Tribune (http://bit.ly/1cDHXrA ) reports the city was one of 17 across the nation to be designated as a “connected community.”
The designation was a part of a partnership between Morristown Utility Services, the Morristown Area Chamber of Commerce and Connected Tennessee, a broadband initiative created by the state in 2007 to improve economic development and increase access through wireless connectivity.
All households in the city have access to broadband and most have a choice of providers.
Morristown Mayor Danny Thomas said the certification will be an asset to workforce development.
Chamber President Marshall Ramsey said the designation will be used to help market the community to potential industries and others.
