Deputies Investigate Lake Co. Double Murder

Officers in Lake County spent their Friday trying to figure out who killed an elderly couple in their own home. “We just are so early in the investigation, it is hard to tell exactly what we have,” said Lake County Sheriff Chief Deputy Jason Allison. The Lake County Sheriff’s Department and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are investigating the deaths. Although officers are not releasing much information, the victim’s relatives said the bodies are that of Clarence and Sue Shell. “They were real nice people, I can tell you that, real nice people,” said Walter Hick’s, who is an in-law of the victims. According to Shell’s daughter, the couples’ grandson had stopped by the house earlier that morning to show them the newest addition to the family, a new baby born on Jan. 1. Instead, he made a tragic discovery. “They do not need to live, whoever done this,” said Hicks. “There is no reason for that, no reason and I do not know why they done it.” Family members said the couple had moved back to the property on Owl Hoot Rd. in Oct. and just celebrated their 50th anniversary on Sunday. “We will accept any information, however small in this investigation,” said Allison. If you have any information that could help put this criminal behind bars, contact the Lake County Sheriff’s Department at (731) 253-7791 or the TBI at 1-800-TBI-FIND. .
