Hill Faces Judge in Meeting Fight Case
Testimony that took two hours was heard before a judge made his decision Tuesday in the case of the former Madison County Democratic Party president versus the current president and Jackson attorney, Robert Hill. Judge Larry McKenzie from Chester County did not mince words when he handed down his decision. “It is the opinion of this court, is that what we have are children’s scuffling in the schoolyard. And the case is therefore dismissed,” said Judge McKenzie. David Johnson filed the misdemeanor charge of simple assault against Hill following a February party meeting that got heated. In all, five people, including Johnson, took the stand. They all testified that Hill is the one who confronted Johnson and chest bumped him into a corner, where Johnson came out swinging. Only two of Hill’s six defense witnesses took the stand before the judge said he had heard enough. We spoke with Hill right after the ruling. “Frankly, I think he’s acting tea party-like, and trying to take over a party by force of intimidation and frankly he’s just a bully,” said Robert Hill, who was cleared of charges. ABC 7 Eyewitness News hoped to talk with David Johnson as well, but he left the courtroom before we could catch up with him. Phone calls to reach him have gone unanswered.
