The long line of world renowned speakers will continue at this year’s Union University scholarship banquet. School officials announced Wednesday that former British Prime Minister Tony Blair will be the keynote speaker for the 14th annual scholarship banquet on October 3. Blair served as Prime minister from 1997 to 2007. Before that, he served as leader of the Labour Party and a member of the British Parliament. Since the end of his tenure, Blair has continued to be active in affairs in the Middle East and his Tony Blair Foundation, which promotes respect between major religions. “Mr. Blair’s leadership particularly in key international issues over the recent years. Now that he has left office in England, has made him a person that was at the top of our list,” said Dr. David Dockery, president of Union University.
