RJ Harris
RJ Harris age 59 of Dyersburg, TN died Friday, May 30, 2025, at Jackson Madison Co. General Hospital in Jackson, TN. Arrangements are entrusted with McCreight Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 18, 2025, 1:00p.m. at McCreight Funeral Home 1607 Hornbrook St. Dyersburg, TN. Cremation is under direction of McCreight Funeral Home. RJ Harris was born in Newbern, TN. on November 8, 1965, to the late Raleigh Harris and the late Imogean (Harris) Brown. RJ met his wife, Leddie (Cardwell) Harris, at McDonald’s. They married on September 2, 1989, making them married for 35 loving years, they were blessed with three children: Mica, Raleigh, and Kara. RJ did accept Christ at a young age; however, he recommitted later in life and was baptized by his stepfather, the late Rev. Frank Brown Jr., on May 25, 1997. RJ was employed by Geon (formerly) Colonial Rubber and PolyOne) and worked as a Lab Technician for 25 years. He enjoyed Face Timing and his grandbabies, fishing with his daughter Kara and nephew Shawn, riding his motorcycle named Charlene, and playing his PS5. Most of all, RJ loved representing his Indianapolis Colts. By him being a donor, RJ was able to bless someone with his liver, which fits his character of having a big heart.
He had the gift of seeing potential in others, that is why he was always mentoring his children, family members, and other who crossed his path. Even in the darkest moments, faith allowed RJ to face each day with courage and grace. RJ is also survived by one son: Raleigh Jr Harris IV of Jackson, TN. Two daughters, Mica Cardwell and Kara Harris; three grandchildren; Malikiyah, Molliyana, and Jonas Cardwell; Sisters; Saundra (the late Gary) Quinn of Clarksville, TN., Cynthia (Harold) Brooks, of Marion, IN., TyRhonda Pettigrew of Rockingham, NC, and Catrina Johnson; Sister-in-Laws: Regina (Ronald) Spencer of Randallstown, MD, Dierdia (Greg) Maze, and Stacy Jennings; brother-in-law: Dan Burch Jr., Dyersburg, TN.., Benjiman (Maria) Cardwell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, James Burch of Las Vegas, NV., and Aron McCrite, of Paducah, Ky., A Childhood friend, Gardner Bartrom of LaFontaine, IN., his family pet dog Chyna, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. RJ was preceded in death by both parents, stepfather, brothers, Timothy and Stacy Harris, Sister Stephanie Harris Croom, Mother-in-Law Virginia Mims, father-in-law Ben Cardwell, and brother-in-law Gary Quinn.
