Shooting Victims Criminal Histories Released

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Police have released the criminal history of the men shot and killed in Monday and Tuesday’s shootings. Alexander Merriweather, 23, was not stranger to Jackson police. According to records, officers last picked him up on August 13 for violation of probation. On Nov. 2, 2011, Merriweather was charged with violation of probation, simple possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a weapon and tampering with evidence. In 2010, Merriweather was charged with simple possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a weapon. Deandre Thomas, 26, who was shot and killed Tuesday morning in Lincoln Courts also had a record with Jackson police. Thomas had only been charged with driving infractions, including Driving on a suspended license and driving while unlicensed.
