Jail Inmate Dies at Hospital; Autopsy Shows Natural Causes

JACKSON, Tenn. – An autopsy has been ordered after a Madison County Jail inmate died at a Jackson hospital. According to Sheriff David Woolfork, Raymond Levi Jones, Jr. was taken to the hospital Sunday after he became ill at the jail. We are told doctors planned to perform surgery on Monday, but Jones died that day before the surgery happened. A preliminary autopsy report from the state medical examiner‘s office indicated that Jones died from an aortic aneurysm. Raymond Levi Jones, Jr. had been charged with aggravated burglary, theft of property (over $1,000.00), aggravated assault and false imprisonment. He was also charged with three counts of violation of probation.
