Benton County Schools address threat made by student
Benton County's Director of Schools speaks out on a potential threat made by a student.
FROM BENTON COUNTY SCHOOLS (8:45 p.m. 10/1/25):
Dear Families and Staff,
Earlier today, Camden Central High School administration was made aware of a potential verbal threat to school safety. Law enforcement are currently investigating the report. Based on their investigation a verbal threat was made by a student, but it’s been determined that there is not an imminent threat to school safety.
A new Tennessee law requires school districts to notify families whenever law enforcement is contacted in connection with a potential school threat.
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. We encourage everyone in our community to continue reporting any concerns they may have. If you see or hear something that could represent a safety issue, please speak up.
We will communicate with you if additional information becomes available. In the meantime, thank you for your attention to this update.
Sincerely,
Mark Florence, Director of Schools
