Annual ‘Fall in the Gardens’ plant sale kicks off in Jackson, set to continue Friday
JACKSON, Tenn. — Home gardeners of all ages and skill levels are invited to one of the last horticultural events of the season.
University of Tennessee Gardens, Jackson, is hosting its annual “Fall in the Gardens” plant sale and lecture series starting today.
It’s open until 8 pm Thursday evening and on Friday, October 3 from 10 am until 2 pm.
The first day of this free event will feature educational presentations on topics such as plant selection, landscape design and growing beautiful displays from seed, while hands-on demonstrations will showcase leaf pressing and leaf casting activities you can do at home.
“This particular event is focused on home gardeners, friends, family — even if you are just growing in containers on the porch, this would be a fun, enjoyable event! If you can only come for a few hours, pop in! We welcome you and invite you to come, but we’d love for you to stay all day too!” said Celeste Scott, horticulture specialist with UT Extension Institute of Agriculture.
Attendees will also enjoy both walking tours of UT Gardens, Jackson, and wagon tours of the AgResearch Center, as well as local vendors and food trucks.
