City Leaders Meet to Improve West Tennessee Infrastructure

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — Restoring the Memphis Regional Megasite in Brownsville was the goal of Wednesday’s Regional Economic Development Initiative, or REDI meeting. The governor’s chief of staff joined Brownsville city leaders to talk about creating business opportunities. With money provided by the state, leaders hope to have more activity at the Mega Site by improving the infrastructure. “Well it means we’re going to see some activity over there which will…Get people enthused about the mega site again,” Haywood County Mayor Franklin Smith said. “We’ve kind of lost our enthusiasm because there’s not much been going on.” Construction on the water tower plans start by the start of the new year, and the water pipeline work to start by winter of next year. This was the 5th annual “REDI” conference.
