Increasing Clouds And Somewhat Mild Today

Weather Update: Monday, November 17 —

Good Morning West Tennessee. It was a rather chilly start to the day with temps in the low to mid 30s. That’s not too far off from normal this time of year. We can thank the dry cold front that passed late Saturday into Sunday for that. Trailing behind the trough is continental polar high pressure. It is centered near Chicagoland this morning providing NW flow and lake effect snow to the usual snowbelt regions, but also providing a rather chilly morning for the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys. At the base of the aforementioned trough is the old fontal boundary. It has now stalled and will turn around heading back to wards the Midsouth as a warm front.

Today:
First, we will see a gradual increase in clouds due to overrunning along the warm front. We’ll be looking at a mix of sun and clouds today along with a brisk easterly wind through the day. Despite the cold start temps will still climb through the mid to upper 50s through late morning while there’s more sunshine.
Tues Am
Tonight/Tuesday Morning:
Skies will remain at least partially cloud covered, that will slow the dropping temps a bit. Low around 52-55°F. However. the warm front will continue expanding north into the Midsouth, especially after midnight to daybreak. Meanwhile a belt of modest westerlies ill be moving east along and ahead of the fontal zone, there might be enough elevated moisture and instability for a few storms developing near Springfield, MO that race east towards West Kentucky/Possibly clipping far NW Tennessee through daybreak and mid-morning on Tuesday. There has been a notable consistency in the guidance on the feature. Not expecting severe storms, but brief heavy rain gusty with some small hail seems possible with this round of storms. Best coverage generally north of I-40, but it will depend on the warm front’s physical position and progression ultimately.
