Gibson County Sheriff’s Department warns of scam calls

GIBSON CO., Tenn.— The Gibson County Sheriff’s Department warns about scam calls.

The Gibson County Sheriff’s Department is warning residents of an uptake in scam calls once again. Authorities posted the following information to Facebook to warn the public.

“Someone is once again calling people saying they are with the Sheriff’s Office and telling them there is a warrant out for their arrest for missing jury duty. They further state it can be taken care of if they send money. First of all, we don’t operate in this manner, second of all if you did happen to miss jury duty you would be served personally by a deputy with a show cause order with a court date, not a warrant. Some of these scammers are “spoofing” the sheriff’s office number making it appear it is legit, please don’t be fooled by this.”
