Bradford Woman Accused of Leaving Children Home Alone

BRADFORD, Tenn. – A Bradford woman has been arrested, accused of leaving her young children home alone. Officers said they visited Rachel Hamm’s home on Cantrell Street after getting a call from a concerned neighbor that Hamm’s five children were home alone. Police said the children, aged three weeks old to 12 years old at the time, were left alone for a few hours. Authorities said they later gave Hamm, 29, a verbal warning not to leave the children alone. Upon visiting the home another day, investigators reported finding the children alone again. When Hamm arrived, she was arrested and charged with child neglect. Gibson County court officials told 7 Eyewitness News Hamm has entered a guilty plea to a charge of reckless endangerment. They said in order to avoid jail time, Hamm has agreed to take a parenting class, alcohol and drug assessment and be placed on supervised probation. Police said the children are currently living with other family members.
