RECAP: How did Black Friday go for retailers, shoppers in West Tennessee
JACKSON, Tenn. — It’ time for a Black Friday recap to see how the shopping event went for retailers and customers this year.

Now that Thanksgiving leftovers are out of the way we head over to a few retailers to see how Black Friday shopping shapes up in sales this year.
Major stores like Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, Kohl’s, Buckle and others in West Tennessee had sales running for several days, often starting the Monday before Thanksgiving.
“We had a wonderful Black Friday, and we’re so thankful for everyone that came out to visit with us. It was a super busy weekend, but we had a great time. December 11 we have our friends and family event coming up. We’ll have special offers, so 20% off of select brands that includes BOGO two for one offers. Then, if you apply for our store card you can get 15% off in store, and our premier members are going to get that plus one bonus point and we’ll be having a giveaway,” said Lu Goolsby, assistant manager for Buckle.

Buckle offers a variety of options from women, men, and youth clothing if you’re looking for a great deal during the holidays.
“Teammates are fully ready to help you pick out everything for your shopping list, for you and for everybody that you’re looking for. We definitely work well with our other vendors in this area just building the community because we want everyone to be successful,” said Goolsby.
We head over to Michaels to speak with a first time shopper that made it into stores before the Black Friday rush this year.
“I like to save my Christmas spirit for November and December and that’s when I’m full force; that’s all I’ll talk about. This is my first time coming out to look at all the ornaments. I’m really excited for Christmas this year. I’m really getting into the Christmas spirit,” said Amanda Blazek, holiday shopper.
Many stores across the region offered a variety of deals that typically run through the weekend for “Small Business Saturday.”

According to Black Friday statistics, this year, preliminary data indicates that online shopping reached $10.8 billion in the United States, reflecting a significant increase of 10.2% from previous years.
Many Black Friday sales may be over but you may still find ongoing deals online as many retailers transition to Cyber Week sales.
