Governor Lee visits West TN counties for ‘America 250’ tour

BOLIVAR, Tenn. — Governor Bill Lee visited multiple counties across West Tennessee Tuesday to continue a year-long America 250 celebration.

Gov. Bill Lee visited Hardeman County at Hatchie Town River Park to continue his America 250 celebration.

Hatchie Town River Park is currently under development to improve river access. The development is a part of the BluewaysTN initiative to help preserve and protect Tennessee waterways.

Gov. Lee says rivers in the state are valuable and by preserving them more people can enjoy these waterways.

“The treasure is accessed by people and when people have access to the river whether its to fish, float, or to swim when people have access to our rivers then they can enjoy them and they’re more interested in preserving them,” said Gov. Lee.

He also says Bolivar will benefit financially because of tourism. Gov. Lee also visited McNairy county at Ashewood Farms.

Ashewood Farms has been raising cattle since the 50s and its been in their family for three generations. Gov. Lee says the Ashewood family farm is an example of families establishing their legacy.

“It’s just an example of families that have made roots here for generations and have been a contributor to what makes Tennessee a remarkable place,” said Gov. Lee.

Gov. Lee has toured a third of all the counties in Tennessee so far with the overall goal of celebrating Tennessee’s contributions to the country. Gov. Lee also visited the Outpost General Store in Hardin County Tuesday and he plans to visit all 95 counties in the state before July 4 of next year.
