Haywood Home Deputies Looking For Gunman In Home Invasion

BROWNSVILLE, Tenn — Haywood County deputies are looking for a gunman they said robbed and shot two men, early Friday morning during a home invasion. “It happened in a good, quiet area,” Haywood County Sheriff, Melvin Bond, said. Residents agreed that it’s an unlikely neighborhood for violent crimes; but deputies said what happened early Friday morning is enough to put residents on edge. A little after midnight, Sheriff Bond said a man kicked in the back door of a house on River Bend Road, before robbing the homeowner and shooting another man in the leg. “It’s very rare for us to have that type of crime in an area like that,” Sheriff Bond said. The gunman left with more than $400 in cash and two cellphones. The man who was shot was flown to a Memphis hospital. Deputies said the gunman was not wearing a disguise but the victims were unable to identify him. They are looking for a tall, slender, black man with dark, curly hair.
