West TN juvenile arrested regarding school threats

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE FAYETTE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE:

FAYETTE COUNTY, Tenn. — On December 4, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was notified by the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security of a potential threat of mass violence directed at Fayette-Ware High School. The alert resulted from a multi-agency investigation that originated out of state where electronic communications from various social media outlets were intercepted.

Sheriff’s Office personnel worked in coordination with agents from the Tennessee Office of Homeland Security to investigate the matter further. Based on the evidence and information gathered, the threat was determined to be credible.

The individual involved, a 15 year old student at Fayette-Ware High School, was taken into custody at his residence last night under T.C.A. 39-16-517, Threat of Mass Violence on School Property. This incident did not occur on school grounds, nor did it take place during the school day. Fayette County Schools has been notified and state they have immediately initiated the district’s disciplinary process in accordance with Board policy.

Because this remains an active investigation and prosecution involving a juvenile, no further details can be released at this time. The juvenile remains in custody.
