Local Group Raises Money for Philippine Typhoon Victims

JACKSON, Tenn. — The West Tennessee Filipino-American Association says they’re helping their friends and family in the Philippines by raising money in Jackson. Members of the group held a yard sale from 7 A.M. to 12 P.M. President Sandra Dee says people started coming at 5 A.M. Dee estimates that nearly 300 people showed up to support the cause — something she says, warms her heart. “I am touched by the outpouring support by the people of Jackson to the Filipino people here in the community,” Dee said. “We truly appreciate and thank everybody.” Dee says the fundraising won’t stop there. She says people interested in donating can drop off canned goods and personal items at 70 Bellwood Cove, starting Sunday.
