Local Salvation Army aiming to raise $115k through Red Kettle Campaign

JACKSON, Tenn. — The holiday season is underway, and one local nonprofit is just days away from reaching a big goal.

Every gift creates a ripple of hope.

That’s true for The Salvation Army of Jackson as they strive to turn generosity into meals, shelter, and support for neighbors who need it most.

This year, the nonprofit has supported even more community members as economic uncertainty and rising prices stretch household budgets.

“We had a lot of people who for the first time was able to experience need for themselves on a personal basis,” said Captain Will Richardson.

The Red Kettle Campaign is one of The Salvation Army’s biggest holiday efforts, giving the community a simple way to give back and make a difference.

“So, that money that we get during this time from November 15th all the way to the 24th of December is very crucial. It’s very important,” Richardson said. “We are heavily supported by and funded by the community, and so, if that money doesn’t come in, then we of course have to do cutbacks.”

The nonprofit has a goal of raising $115,000 this holiday season to support their year-round efforts.

“If you see a red kettle, put money in it. If you don’t have money, we have QR codes on the sign, you can always scan it with your phone,” Richardson said. “Just any way, if you don’t have money, give time. We’re always looking for volunteers to help us with different services around the building here.”

With needs continuing to rise, Captain Richardson says supporting their campaign is one way to give back and make a lasting impact this holiday season.

The last day to donate to the red buckets is Christmas Eve.
