Weather Update: Friday, December 19 —

We spent all of Friday under the influence of a polar continental high pressure. It was moving through the Ohio Valley. the High  now is settling into the Smokies of East Tennessee. That will allow winds to switch directions from the south this evening.  Temps will fall steadily at first, down to around freezing. As we climb higher in the atmosphere were starting to slip into more of a zonal west to east flow. within the flow is another clipper developing in the Central Rockies. The Clipper will move east dropping into the Plains tonight. There will be a warm height response along with an increase in mid to high level clouds tonight. Those clouds will stop the temps likely around 32-34°F. some may actually climb a degree or two overnight leading into Saturday.
Skycast North Today Test
Saturday:
Saturday will start off chilly with temps climbing fairly rapidly through the 30s in the morning along with a south wind between 5-10 mph. Wind chill likely hang around freezing most of the morning. Temps will climb to the mid 50s by lunch, clouds will begin increasing in response to a weak clipper/disturbance approaching from the north. High resolution guidance is still trying to spit out a few sprinkles mainly along and south of I-40. It won’t amount to much, but I thought I’d at least mention it in case you’re out Christmas shopping all day and forget!
