JPD responds to reported firearm incident at Five Below
JACKSON, Tenn. – The Jackson Police Department responded to reports of an armed individual running into the store at Five Below, located at 127 Stonebrook Place. The incident was reported at approximately 6:05 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2026.
JPD officials said when officers arrived that they investigated the incident and made contact with the clerk, store manager, and three juveniles on the scene. After investigating, no firearm was located and it was determined the call was a prank. JPD said the prank involved the three juveniles on the scene and the store clerk.

JPD said there was no threat to the public.
The Jackson Police Department appreciates the cooperation of those involved and reminds the public to take reported threats seriously, as officer response is necessary to ensure community safety, said Stephanie Graham, Public Information Officer for Jackson Police Department.
When our crews arrived on scene Monday night, JPD had cleared the scene. Jackson Police Department tell us there are no charges being filed against the individuals involved with the prank.
It is illegal to call in a false police report for an armed individual in the state of Tennessee. According to T.C.A. Code 39-16-502 (false reports), filing a false report could result in a Class C felony.
