Decatur Co. School System employee arrested, charged with Rape of a Child

According to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, an employee with the Decatur Co. School System was arrested and charged with Rape of a Child.

The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an alleged criminal incident involving an employee of the Decatur County School System.
Upon receiving this information, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office immediately met with Decatur County School System administration and informed them of the active investigation. The Decatur County School System promptly placed the employee on administrative leave and barred the individual from all school campuses, as well as from any contact with students or staff.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office then collaborated with the 24th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, which assumed the lead role in the investigation.
Subsequently, the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office received an arrest warrant from the 24th Judicial District Attorney’s Office for Allen Maxwell. On January 9, 2026, deputies with the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mr. Maxwell at his residence in Parsons, Tennessee, without incident.

The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office will continue to support the 24th Judicial District Attorney’s Office throughout the investigation. This remains an active case. Anyone with information or who believes they may be a victim is urged to contact the 24th Judicial District Attorney’s Office or the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office.
The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
