JDDC opens applications for theLOCAL

JACKSON DOWNTOWN DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION OPENS APPLICATIONS FOR THE LOCAL

Jackson, Tenn. (January 13, 2026): Applications for theLOCAL, an incubator for entrepreneurs to get a taste of operating their own retail space by providing micro-retail units with low-overhead costs in Downtown Jackson, are open now through February 16th. One unit is available with a lease starting May 2026, and one food truck space is also available in the theLOCAL parking lot, with a lease start date available as soon as possible.

After applications have closed, interviews will be conducted from February 23-27 and the anticipated lease start date is May 1, 2026. theLOCAL is for artisans, bakers, makers, chefs and more, and is a testing opportunity for businesses who would like to have a larger retail space in Downtown Jackson in the future. Rent starts at $600/month and includes utilities and internet for 1-2 year lease. Businesses who would be offering food service and may use more utilities could be subject to a potential increase that would be determined at the start of the lease agreement.

“Getting started at theLOCAL has been invaluable to my business,” Rebecca Creasy, current tenant and owner of Gylden Bake House, said. “With low overhead expenses and support from theCO, I’ve been able to not only grow my business with intention, but to build a sustainable business model that benefits my community.”

Through shared resources, mentorship opportunities through theCO, and a built-in community of fellow entrepreneurs, tenants are supported as they refine their products, connect with customers, and take meaningful steps toward long-term growth in downtown Jackson.
