City of Jackson’s Mayoral Salary Review Committee meets

JACKSON, Tenn. — The City of Jackson’s Mayoral Salary Review Committee held a meeting Thursday. A mayoral salary review is conducted every four years.

Mayor Conger’s current salary is $142,000 a year. The committee is currently comparing salaries of mayors across different cities in the south that are comparable to Jackson to determine if it is an adequate amount or if it needs to be more.

“We want to make sure that we’re giving an adequate and fair price for what all our mayor does,” said Marda Wallace, Jackson councilwoman & vice mayor.

The Mayoral Salary Review Committee will meet again in February and the city council will vote on the salary in March.
